Biography
Leanne Walters is a recently credentialed Associate with the Society of Actuaries and is currently pursuing a CERA designation. She holds a B.B.A in Actuarial Science, Masters of Actuarial Science and Master of Science in Quantitative Risk Analysis and Management, all of which were attained with Summa Cum Laude Honors from Georgia State University.
After graduating in 2020, Leanne worked full time as an actuary for New York Life Insurance Company (NYL) in Manhattan, NY and has served in the Life Actuarial Analytics Department and in Internal Capital under the Risk Management Division. Responsibilities in these roles included performing Regulatory testing, developing and maintaining Actuarial models, as well as generating and analyzing internal Financial Statements for NYL’s lines of business.
Leanne has also assisted in developing key profitability and solvency metrics using stochastic modeling and stress testing methodologies. Since her return home to St. Kitts, Leanne has sought to further her experience in the Risk Management arena and hopes to utilize her Actuarial background to improve the ERM and FRM landscapes in the Federation. She is also passionate about the presence of Women in STEM and since the inception of her career has been an active advocate for the increase of minorities in the Actuarial profession.
